Why God’s Goodness Should Never Be Whispered

There are moments in life when silence is appropriate. We remain silent to listen, to reflect, to learn, or to comfort someone in pain. Yet there is one area of our lives where silence should never have the final word, our testimony of God’s goodness.

When God has rescued you, forgiven you, sustained you, healed you, provided for you, and filled your life with mercy, gratitude cannot remain hidden. A heart that has truly encountered the goodness of God naturally overflows with thanksgiving. Praise is not something we force ourselves to do; it is the spontaneous response of a soul that has been touched by divine love.

This truth inspired my worship song “I Shout It Loud.”

This song is more than a declaration of praise. It is a public testimony. It is the joyful announcement that God has been faithful, and His faithfulness deserves to be proclaimed without fear, shame, or hesitation.

The chorus simply declares:

“I bless You Lord.
I shout it loud.
For all You’ve done.
Thank You Lord.
I bless You Lord.
Hail You Lord.
I shout it loud.
Thank You Lord.
I praise You Lord.”

Those words remind every believer that gratitude should never remain hidden inside the heart. It should be spoken, sung, and lived before the world.

Every Breath Is a Gift from God

The song begins with a powerful confession:

“Thank You Lord for Your breath that gave me life.
You are the life that made me a living being.”

Life is the greatest miracle most people overlook.

Every morning we awaken, breathe, and begin another day without fully realizing the priceless gift we have received. The very breath filling our lungs is not something we manufactured. It is not guaranteed by our strength, intelligence, or wealth. It is a gracious gift from God.

The Bible tells us in Genesis 2:7:

“Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”

Humanity did not create life.

God breathed life.

Every heartbeat, every breath, every sunrise reminds us that we exist because God continues to sustain us.

The Apostle Paul echoed this truth when speaking in Athens:

“For in Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)

Without God’s sustaining power, life itself would cease.

How often do we thank Him simply for allowing us to wake up?

Before asking God for another blessing, perhaps we should pause and thank Him for the blessing we are already living.

The Fire That Purifies

The first verse continues:

“Thank You Lord for Your fire in my bones
That sanctifies and purifies me.”

Fire throughout Scripture often represents God’s holy presence.

When Moses encountered God, it was through a burning bush that was not consumed.

When Elijah called upon God, fire descended from heaven.

On the Day of Pentecost, tongues like fire rested upon the disciples as they were filled with the Holy Spirit.

Fire symbolizes purification.

Gold becomes more valuable after passing through fire because impurities are removed.

Likewise, God often uses His Spirit to refine His people.

Sometimes that refining happens through conviction.

Sometimes through correction.

Sometimes through trials that strengthen our faith.

Although these seasons are uncomfortable, they are evidence that God has not abandoned us. He is shaping us into people who reflect His holiness.

Malachi 3:3 beautifully describes the Lord as a refiner and purifier.

God’s fire is never meant to destroy His children.

It is meant to prepare them for His purpose.

When I sing about God’s fire in my bones, I am thanking Him for His transforming work, the daily process of making me more like Christ.

Gratitude Should Never Be Silent

Throughout the song one phrase is repeated again and again:

“I shout it loud.”

Why shout?

Because God’s goodness deserves to be heard.

The Bible repeatedly calls God’s people to proclaim His works publicly.

Psalm 107:2 declares:

“Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story.”

Our testimonies are not meant to remain private.

When God answers prayer, someone else needs to hear about His faithfulness.

When He heals, restores, forgives, or provides, our testimony becomes an encouragement to others who are still waiting for their breakthrough.

There is something powerful about spoken gratitude.

It strengthens our own faith.

It builds the faith of others.

It glorifies the One who deserves all praise.

The enemy often wants believers to remain silent.

Fear says,

“What will people think?”

Pride says,

“You achieved this by yourself.”

But faith says,

“I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” (Psalm 34:1)

That is the spirit behind this song.

It is a refusal to hide God’s goodness.

Mercy Made Redemption Possible

The next verse declares:

“By mercy redemption is sure for us.
Salvation is free and universal.
It’s sure for those who believe in Jesus.”

These lyrics capture the very heart of the Gospel.

None of us could earn salvation.

No amount of good deeds could erase the stain of sin.

No religious ceremony could restore what humanity had lost.

Redemption came only because God chose to show mercy.

Ephesians 2:8–9 reminds us:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God, not by works.”

Grace is receiving what we do not deserve.

Mercy is not receiving the judgment we deserve.

Together, they reveal the beauty of God’s character.

The invitation of salvation is extended to all people.

Jesus Himself declared:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

The gift is available to everyone.

But it must be received through faith in Christ.

This is why redemption is described as “sure for those who believe.”

God never breaks His promise.

Everyone who comes to Christ in faith finds forgiveness, acceptance, and eternal life.

God’s Compassion Never Fails

Another beautiful declaration in the song says:

“So great is our Father’s love and compassion.
And great is His mercy and abundant grace.”

Compassion is one of the most comforting characteristics of God.

The Bible describes Him as:

“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” (Psalm 103:8)

Human compassion often has limits.

We grow tired.

We lose patience.

We become frustrated.

But God’s compassion never runs dry.

Jesus demonstrated this repeatedly throughout His earthly ministry.

He had compassion on the sick.

He had compassion on the hungry.

He had compassion on grieving families.

He had compassion on sinners.

Every miracle Jesus performed was motivated by love.

Every person He forgave was embraced by compassion.

His heart has not changed.

The same compassionate Savior still welcomes every person who comes to Him today.

Grace for Every Step

The lyrics continue:

“Grace to live.
Grace to move.
And have my being.”

Grace is far more than God’s forgiveness.

Grace is God’s empowering presence in our daily lives.

It is grace that strengthens us when we feel weak.

Grace that gives wisdom for difficult decisions.

Grace that restores hope after disappointment.

Grace that enables forgiveness when our hearts have been wounded.

Grace is not merely the doorway into Christianity.

Grace is the atmosphere in which every believer lives.

Paul understood this when he wrote:

“By the grace of God I am what I am.” (1 Corinthians 15:10)

Everything we accomplish for God’s Kingdom is ultimately the result of His grace working within us.

The Christian life is impossible without grace.

But with grace, even impossible situations become opportunities for God to reveal His power.

Why We Must Keep Praising

One question often arises during difficult seasons.

“How can I praise God when life is painful?”

The answer is found throughout Scripture.

Habakkuk declared he would rejoice even if the fields produced no crops.

Job worshipped even after unimaginable loss.

Paul and Silas sang hymns while sitting in prison.

Their praise was not based on comfortable circumstances.

It was based on confidence in God’s unchanging character.

Sometimes praise comes before the breakthrough.

Sometimes praise becomes the pathway to peace.

When we choose to bless God regardless of our circumstances, we declare that He is worthy because of who He is, not merely because of what He gives.

That is mature worship.

That is unwavering faith.

Becoming Living Testimonies

One of the greatest ways we honor God is by becoming living testimonies of His goodness.

People may never read a Bible.

They may never attend church.

But they will observe our lives.

They will notice our joy in difficult seasons.

Our peace in uncertainty.

Our forgiveness when we have been hurt.

Our hope when others despair.

These become powerful testimonies pointing people toward Christ.

“I Shout It Loud” is not only a song about singing.

It is a call to live in such a way that our entire lives proclaim God’s faithfulness.

Our words should declare His goodness.

Our attitudes should reflect His grace.

Our actions should reveal His love.

A Heart That Refuses to Forget

One danger every believer faces is forgetfulness.

Life becomes busy.

New challenges arise.

Answered prayers become distant memories.

Soon we begin focusing more on what we still lack than on everything God has already done.

The Bible repeatedly instructs God’s people to remember.

Remember His faithfulness.

Remember His promises.

Remember His deliverance.

Remember His covenant.

Psalm 103 begins with these powerful words:

“Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits.”

Gratitude grows when remembrance becomes a habit.

That is why I continue singing:

“I bless You Lord.
I shout it loud.
For all You’ve done.”

Every time I sing those words, I am choosing remembrance over forgetfulness.

I am reminding my own heart that God has been faithful before, and He will remain faithful forever.

A Personal Invitation

As you listen to “I Shout It Loud,” I invite you to pause and reflect on your own story.

Think about the prayers God has answered.

The dangers He has protected you from.

The forgiveness He has freely given.

The doors He has opened.

The strength He has supplied when you felt you had nothing left.

Do not allow those miracles to fade into ordinary memories.

Speak about them.

Sing about them.

Share them with your family.

Encourage someone who is waiting for their own breakthrough.

Most importantly, give all the glory to the One who made it possible.

Our God deserves more than quiet appreciation.

He deserves joyful proclamation.

May this song remind you that every breath is a gift, every day is sustained by grace, every hope rests upon mercy, and every victory points back to the faithfulness of God.

So let your heart overflow with thanksgiving.

Lift your voice without fear.

Bless His holy name with all that is within you.

And together with believers around the world, let us declare with confidence:
